About The University of Rzeszów
The University of Rzeszów is a university that is a public higher institution, situated in the urban setting of the large town of Rzeszów, Poland. The patron of the university is St. Queen Jadwiga from Poland. The university was formally established in the year 2001 by the merging of numerous older institutions in the city. It offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as Bachelor Degrees, Master Degrees, and Doctorate Degrees in several areas of study. The University realizes student and teaching staff mobility, organizes international scientific conferences and meetings. Researchers from UR take part in research training, sessions, and lectures with specialists from Poland and Europe, concerning social, economic, cultural, and scientific problems and issues. The university implements professional courses training students to the modern labor market, they also prepare to teach staff to the modern education system, including the education system of European countries and offer education on the highest European level. The University of Rzeszów has some vital plans for the strategic developments that continue academic policy started in the past but, what’s even more important, are long-term commitments. One of its main aims is to improve the quality of the university in the international field and to become an interesting academic center for our international partners. Its international cooperation is very fruitful with educational Institutions both from West and East Europe. The University of Rzeszów has its leading role in initiating and keeping great and wide scientific, social and cultural contacts with neighboring countries and our partners from the European Community. Geo-cultural conditions open many possibilities of cooperating through the structure of Carpathian Euroregion and it is still one of its priorities to keep international cooperation fluent and profitable. A lot of faculties belong to international associations and organizations as well as students, who take part in conferences organized in different parts of Europe. The University of Rzeszów has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students’ past academic records and grades. The admission rate range is 30 – 40 percent (%) making this Polish higher education organization a very selective institution. International students are welcome to apply for admission. Currently, the university comprises of: i) Rzeszów branch of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University b) Higher School of Education c) Economics department of the Hugo Kołłątaj Academy of Agriculture. The university has approximately twenty-four thousand (24,000) students. Every year approximately four thousand (4,000) new students are admitted. The university’s staff is about two thousand (2,000) persons.
