This US $ 1,500 grant will be awarded to two (2) students to cover the costs associated with research activities related to the search for innovative solutions that will improve the lives of students. It can enrich people in developing countries. The scholarships help students and doctoral students cover the costs of research projects conducted in the spring, summer or fall of 2022 in the following research areas of Africa House / CTED:

Economic and political theoryEconomic development, mobile applications, rural tourismFood and agricultural marketsMigration and diasporaLocal governance, cultural norms, and the development of property rights

NYU Africa House Thoyer Fellowship

This $ 2,500 fellowship is awarded to two (2) outstanding Ph. D. students to support African research and studies in economics and disciplines. Scholarships can be used during study or research at New York University for travel, living, tuition, books, research, and other relevant expenses. The Africa House Thoyer Fellowship is based on the idea that development is more likely in cases of sustainable and sound management of the economy and that this management is more likely in cases of group development experts conducting active and knowledgeable relevant research.

Eligibility for NYU Africa House Thoyer Fellowship

Applicants must be enrolled in higher education at New York University and must not graduate by May 2022.Open to students from the fields of economics, political economy or related disciplines.

Robert Holmes Travel / Research Grant for African Fellowship

(Students must apply for their services to attract applications Some departments often replace internal deadlines for students, so that interested students must consult the department as soon as The call will have been launched in mid-December and the results could start in early April 2022.) Two outstanding awards totaling $2,500 for the summer of 2022 will be awarded to outstanding GSAS graduates nominated by their African Studies and Research Support Departments. Ph.D. students should expect to complete the remaining credits and study requirements (qualifying exams, general and language exams) in the year following the award, which are not the dissertation. Candidates can apply to exceptional master’s students proposing research work contributing to their final dissertation. Research supporting awards and studies abroad humanities and social sciences and can be used for visits to research sites such as archives, libraries and fieldwork courses that are required for future thesis research in progress. The winners will be required to present their research as part of the Africa House program, if possible in the spring of 2022. Ph.D. students who have been nominated but have not been selected for the Holmes Award will be automatically selected for the GSAS predoctoral fellowship. The program considered as described above. All applications must be submitted by the department administrator at gsas.fellowships@nyu.edu.

New York University Gallatin and Africa NYU House Summer Fellowship:

New York University and Gallatin Africa House will be awarded up to $ 5,000 to a Gallatin student whose concentration in travel to Africa in the summer of 2022 and his exploration in Africa would benefit. Some areas of research are open but are preferred to those focusing on business, development or travel and tourism, including cultural tourism. This research should be closely linked to an existing or developing concentration. Previous related courses are expected. In the spring semester, students will have the opportunity to present their findings in a forum sponsored by Gallatin and Africa House. The Fellow should spend at least five weeks in Africa in the summer of 2022. The recipient is responsible for arranging his / her travel and accommodation with the assistance of the Gallatin Global Program Office. These agreements must be consistent with the University’s health and safety practices.

Eligibility for NYU Gallatin and Africa NYU House Summer Fellowship

Gallatin students and graduate students. The final exams must be between 2 and 5 years old and at least one semester after the completion of the research project, so they can not be completed before January 2022. University students must have completed at least one semester and not have already made in their thesis dissertations and their listed defense credits.
