Admissions at Derryfield School
Derryfield School is a 6th-12th grade preparatory day school serving a small number of international students each year from grades 9-12. With academic guidance and a group of compassionate and inspiring teachers and coaches, Derryfield knows how to make international students feel at home. International students are fully immersed in all that the school offers and are expected to perform at the same level of proficiency as other Derryfield students. All the students are required to participate in two sports per school year, participate in clubs and activities on campus, and are encouraged to pursue their passions in and out of the classroom.

Standardized Test Scores
While they left SSAT on their list of application requirements, they recognize the challenges of accessing the test this year. Derryfield has offered testing during the months of October and November, and they hope to add Flex testing dates in late January and early February. There are still options for testing at Prometric Testing Centers. A student who is unable to provide an SSAT score this year will not be penalized in the process. In addition to SSAT, we also encourage families to share other test results (SAS, Terra Nova, Iowa, etc.). Discuss your particular process with an admissions representative.
STEP 4: BOOK AN INTERVIEW
An interview is a required part of the admissions process and families currently have the option of scheduling an interview on campus or conducting interviews through Zoom. To book interviews, contact us at admission@derryfield.org or 603-669-4525. Please note the days on your calendar that your family may be available from: Interviews with the candidate and parent/guardian are separate and last every 30 minutes. Before your interview, create a Ravenna account and start the parent application as described in step 4 below. You don’t need to fill out the application before your appointment, but getting started helps us keep track of the status of your application!
STEP 5: NOTIFICATION
Each year, the Admissions Office publishes decisions about Ravenna on March 10 (for applications submitted before February 1). Admitted students have until April 10 to submit enrollment contracts and enrollment deposits. Admitted students will have the opportunity to attend reconsideration events prior to making a decision (Admitted Student Days are in early April after our students return from Spring Break). After February 1, completed applications will be reviewed and considered as soon as possible. Decisions will be communicated in person and posted in Ravenna when ready. If admitted, students in the continuous admission process have two weeks to officially register.
Derryfield School Tuition and Fees
The Derryfield community includes families who can afford high-level tuition and whose philanthropic generosity provides a vital component of annual operating expenses. Each family is expected to contribute to the cost of education, thereby supporting the community to the extent that each family’s unique financial profile allows. There are also families that manage to pay tuition at the highest level only by making a substantial sacrifice, those that can only afford the minimum tuition fees, and those that fall in between. All families requesting fair tuition fees complete an application through a third-party service. Based on the results of this application, your fair tuition rate is confirmed along with admission decisions.
Derryfield School Scholarships
Derryfield School offers a merit scholarship program in support of its mission and core values. Approximately 9% of their students receive merit aid. Read below for more details on the merit process. This program recognizes students who exhibit qualities that the founding members of Derryfield School envisioned:

Academic performance and extracurricular participation are also factors in the decision-making process. Number of grants awarded: Variable per year. Eligibility: Founders Scholars are awarded to new and former students at the discretion of the merits committee. New students are evaluated as part of their application for admission to determine their eligibility for this scholarship. All currently enrolled and reputable students are eligible and therefore do not need to submit a scholarship application. Founder scholarship are limited in number and only awarded to the privileged few. The grants range from $2,000 to $15,000 and their duration varies. The total number of grants available also varies each year. This program seeks to recognize bright and motivated students who demonstrate qualities that will add meaning and vitality to Derryfield’s core values. Number of scholarships awarded: up to three per year. Eligibility: All new students applying to Derryfield are eligible. Students are selected based on responses to writing questions, as well as academic and extracurricular talent. The grants amount to $16,000. Scholarship Application Steps
It is easy to apply! New students complete an Application for Merit while following the regular application process for admission. All documents must be received by the admissions office by February 1, 2021. Students who have completed the entire admission application process AND a merit application before the deadline will be eligible for the exam.
