How is the Enrollment at Citrus County School?

After COVID-19 shuttered campuses in March 2020, 15,463 students were enrolled with the local school district when they returned on Aug. 20 for the 2020-21 academic year. There were 200 more students enrolled that same time during the 2019-20 school year. These enrollment numbers include students in either K-12 brick-and-mortar classes or online classes with Citrus Virtual.  It also covers the district’s alternative schools: the Academy of Environmental Science public charter school; Citrus Resources for Exceptional Student Transition, or CREST; Pace Center for Girls, Citrus; the Renaissance Center; and the E-Nini-Hassee School for Girls. CITRUS SCHOOL ACADEMIC PROGRESS AND SCHOLARSHIP

For the 2019-20 year, the Citrus County School District had a graduation rate of 87.1% — 1.1% higher than the graduating student cohort from 2018-19. Crystal River, Citrus, and Lecanto high schools’ average graduation rate for 2019-20 was 91.7%, higher than Florida’s rate of 90%. Students in the 2019-20 graduating class were exempt from having to take required state assessments in the spring because of COVID-19. Graduation rates between the 2018-19 and 2019-20 school years went from 77.4% to 76.1% for students with disabilities; from 83.7% to 85.1% for students who are economically disadvantaged; and from 61.6% to 76.7% for students at risk of failing. At an average composite score of 22, out of a possible 36, the 263 ACT test-takers from 2020 beat the 421 test-takers from 2019 by two points. For the SAT, the 350 test-takers from 2022 scored an average composite score of 1,072, out of a possible 1,600, compared to the average score of 1,069 the 419 test-takers reported from 2019. Both the district’s average ACT and SAT composite scores are above the average scores for Florida and the U.S. In 2020, an average of 61% of school district students was accepted into either the University of Central Florida, the University of Florida, the University of Southern Florida, or Florida State University,  Crystal River, Citrus, and Lecanto high school students were awarded a total $3.1 million in Bright Futures scholarships; $526,165 in local scholarships, and $1.6 million in military scholarships.

19. Citrus High School (CHS) 

Citrus High School (CHS) is a public high school in the town of Inverness, Florida, United States. The school was founded in 1911 and in 2011 celebrated its 100th anniversary. Citrus High, nicknamed the Hurricanes, was the first of the three high schools in the Citrus County School District, which also includes Crystal River High, in the coastal town of Crystal River, and Lecanto High, located in the center of the county. 

TUITION

 A part of the Citrus County School District, Citrus High currently offers a four-year curriculum in grades 9-12 and currently has an enrollment of 1,420 students. Classes start at 7:50 am and dismissal time is at 2:40 pm. In the 2016–17 school year, Citrus High School started the Academy of Computer Sciences, an academy designed to give students a strong foundation in computer science.

Last year Citrus high was awarded a “B” school grade by the state of Florida and is currently awaiting news of this year’s status.
