Ghana Armed Forces Recruitment past Questions and Answers

Below are some of the questions applicants should expect at the Ghana Armed Forces Recruitment Examinations and their answers. Ghana is located in western Africa, on the Gulf of Guinea, in the north of the equator. The country is bordered to the east by Côte d’Ivoire and to the west by Togo. It covers an area of 238,553 square kilometers. A larger part of the country is located on the Atlantic coast. Wood is located along the tropical equatorial region and is one of the natural resources in addition to minerals such as gold, oil and natural gas. The country also has the largest artificial lake in the world, the Volta Lake, which stretches from the Akosombo Dam to the southeast of Ghana. The lake produces electricity, supplies water for irrigation, land transport and fish. The Portuguese were the first Europeans to arrive in Ghana. They built a fortress in Elmina to exchange gold from within. They were then accompanied by the Dutch, the Danes. Later, the British joined forces and specialized in the slave trade. Gold Coast, today’s Ghana, was colonized by the British. In 1874, the British founded the colony of the British Crown of the Gold Coast. Africans in the Gold Coast region worked on plantations to produce profitable crops for the British. Others worked in the mines to produce minerals. A group of indigenous African soldiers fought with the French in North Africa, Asia, and Europe, as well as the British during World War I and II. Participation in these wars has given native African leaders the will to fight for their own freedom. The rise of Kwame Nkrumah, a prominent leader in Ghana, paved the way for the struggle for independence. In 1947 he became secretary-general of the United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC). This party was determined to make the country constitutionally independent. In 1948 unrest broke out in Accra, people claimed their independence. This led to the arrest of Kwame Nkrumah among other leaders. Kwame developed a more conventional method with the British and started to form his own party, the Conventional People Party (CPP). This party was determined to use non-violent means to lead the country into independence. In 1952 he was elected Prime Minister of the Gold Coast. He then set up a Cabinet made up of Africans working on independence. On March 6, 1957, the country gained independence, which marked the end of the settlement on the Gold Coast and the land was renamed Ghana. Kwame Nkrumah was crowned the first president of Ghana. Ghana was at that time the largest exporter of cocoa, gold, diamonds, manganese and wood. Under Kwame’s rule, modern facilities were built, including roads. He also completed the Volta Damm project. As if that was not enough, he worked so hard to unify the African countries. He proposed the formation of an African federal government. In foreign policy, however, he has given too much trouble and Ghana hardly paid attention. This led to the deterioration of the economy in Ghana. Later in 1964, Kwame declared himself a dictator. During a peace mission to Beijing in 1966, the Ghanaian army led a coup in the country, which later brought the country back to democracy. The country remained under the military rule among a number of generals, including Lieutenant-General Joseph Arthur Ankran (19966-1969), Brigadier Akwasi Afrifa, Edward Akufo-Addo (1970-1972), General Ignatius Kutu (1972-1975), Lieutenant General Fred Akuffo 1975-1978, Flight Lieutenant Jerry Rawlings. In 1979, Hilla Limann was elected president and ruled for two years, after which he was released. According to the Ghanaian constitution, a president is elected for a term of four years, after which parliamentary elections can be held and the incumbent president can hold a maximum of two terms of office.
